If you fancy treading the boards in drama productions in Tamworth, then a new theatre company is just for you.

Tamworth Theatre Company is an exciting new venture from the Arts Development team, as part of the ambitious plans for the future development of the Assembly Rooms.

The company will focus solely on pure theatre, with no musicals or dance shows, and is open to adults aged 18 and over.

Workshops will be held every Monday night from 7pm to 9pm at the Assembly Rooms. They will be led by Simon Quinn of Fired Up Theatre, fresh from the massive success of this summer’s production of The Wall.

Skills covered in the workshops will include voice control, warm-up techniques, developing a character, text and character, ensemble theatre, working with props, improvisation, reading classical theatre works, basic physical theatre, designing for stage, devising, mask work and stage combat.

Members of Tamworth Theatre Company will also get the chance to perform in a professional production of Tom Stoppard’s one-act play, The Real Inspector Hound, at the Assembly Rooms in February next year, as well as a Shakespeare work in the Castle Grounds next summer.

Workshops cost £4 per session and begin on Monday September 10. To join, please contact the Assembly Rooms Box Office on 01827 709618.

Advertise here for only £30/month!
