TamYouth Present their Trip to Moscow
Tamworth Youth Club members gave a presentation on their recent trip to Russia to Mayor Tina Clements on Thursday 19 June. The 10 students aged 16-24 with the Youth Leader Linda James went on a 4 Nations Youth Exchange Visit to Moscow. The students spoke about how much the trip had benefited their personal development tremendously. Their confidence boosted at being able to travel well outside the UK and their comfort zones to do things they would not have thought, or dared to think possible.
All now want to travel more to discover what the world and more importantly its peoples and cultures are really like. This stemmed partly from their new found confidence but also their realisation of it being a two way exchange… how other cultures see the UK and it’s people. This surprised them and there was much discussion about the similarities and differences. These young people spoke with passion about their time in Moscow at the Youth Exchange meeting not as a holiday, as they clearly put a lot of work into it, but as a learning experience.
This was an EU funded trip and later in the Summer it is hoped a few of the Russians they met in Moscow will come to see them in Tamworth.
As the summer holidays are here we can recommend that young people aged 12-19 take a look at http://www.tamyouth.org.uk/ and see what it offers them.
