Landlords Urged to Take Part in Landlord Forum
A special forum to give Tamworth’s private sector landlords help and advice is set to take place next week (January 10).
Organised by Tamworth Borough Council, the Landlords Forum aims to update landlords on current changes to legislation, while providing a network for people to share experiences, views and ideas.
The meeting will take place at Tamworth Community Fire Station, Marlborough Way, Belgrave, on Tuesday January 10. Coffee will be served from 9.30am before the meeting starts at 10am. A buffet lunch is also provided.
Those attending will hear from guest speakers Gaynor Jenkins, an expert in property finance; Paul Dyke, from the Gas Safe Register and John Andrews, from AICO, market leaders in providing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
The forum also aims to inform landlords what services and initiatives are available from the borough council to assist them.
The borough council is urging as many landlords as possible to come along, to make sure they are up-to-date with changes to legislation, and also to find out how the local authority can help them
Councillor Mary Oates, Cabinet Member for Quality of Life, said:
“The borough council is not only here to help our tenants, but also those living in private rented accommodation.
“However we are also here to provide help to landlords. We know that renting out properties can be a minefield with new and changing legislation. These forums aim to give help and information while ensuring landlords know what we can do to help.”
The forums run on a quarterly basis throughout the year and each one features a guest speaker who is an expert in their field. Previous forums have featured talks on landlord accreditation, legal procedures in evictions, tax issues and the police highlighting how to spot cannabis houses.
Attendance is free and open to all private landlords and property owners who rent property in Tamworth.
