The race has not taken place for four years, but KP Events – the company behind the Lichfield Half Marathon and Cathedral Dash – has teamed up with Tamworth Borough Council to stage the event once more on October 16 at 10.30am.

Kevin Wilson from KP Events admits he’s delighted to be able to put the race back on the athletics calendar. He said:

“Both myself and Paul Griffin from KP Events ran the original 10k in Tamworth and enjoyed it, mainly as it was a virtual traffic free route and we intend to fine tune that route and just add some more interesting detail to the route but basically keep to the main route where possible as it was quite flat.

“Our relationship with Tamworth Borough Council is important to us, we want to send out a message that the Tamworth 10k is important to the town and we want the local people to buy into it and be proud of it as an event that sells the area to the wider world of the West Midlands and beyond.”

Anyone wanting more information on the Tamworth 10k can go to where registration is available online. Enquiries can also be made to race secretary Paul Griffin on 07947698147. Entry is £12 for affiliated runners £14 non affiliated.
