Tree Planting at Alvecote Wood
Alvecote Wood has grown by some 9 acres with owners Stephen and Sarah purchasing the field adjacent to the 11 acre ancient woodland site in October.
They are looking for assistance from the people of Tamworth to transform this 9 acre former arable field with mixed native broadleaved woodland, as well as other wildlife habitat including wildlife ponds and wildflower meadows. Forming a connection to other wildlife areas both alongside the Coventry Canal and across the Canal.
They will be planting trees each weekend during February, and volunteers are more than welcome, however they request if visitors could contact them by email (info@pragmasis.com) before turning up, to get an idea of how many to expect, and can organise the work (and also provision of hot drinks and biscuits) accordingly.
For more information, there is a facebook page for Alvecote Wood or on Twitter (@docsquiddy) or the Alvecote Wood Web Site.

I Love what you are doing, we must be able to bring visitors to Tamworth and the local people need places such as this to enjoy. Hopefully once our charity gets properly started we can assist somehow. Maybe next year.

This was an excellent read and sounds like a great project.
With all of the available resources relating to tree and woodland planting it would be very interesting to hear about any research you have done relating to tree planting etc.
Thanks again.
