Still Time to Register for Walk to Cure Diabetes
Families in Tamworth are being reminded that there’s still time to register to take part in the annual Walk to Cure Diabetes and help raise funds for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
The four mile Walk will take place this Sunday 3rd October in the grounds of Drayton Manor Theme Park, near Tamworth, Staffordshire. Registration for the event can be completed beforehand online at http://www.jdrf.org.uk/walk/westmidlands. Alternatively, people can just turn up and register on the day.
The Walk will start at 11am, with check-in taking place from 9.30am until 10.45am. There will be a fun group warm up session shortly before the Walk to get everyone limbered up and ready to go.
This year marks the third consecutive year that the Walk has been held at Drayton Manor Theme Park’s grounds. Last year, 500 people took part and raised over £70,000. Funds raised for the charity goes towards crucial research into type 1 diabetes, which is a chronic, life-threatening condition that has a major impact on those diagnosed with it and their families. Type 1 diabetes affects an estimated 350,000 people across the country, including over 25,000 children.
Colin Bryan, managing director, Drayton Manor Theme Park, comments:
“We’re extremely proud to be able to support such a worthy cause. Type 1 diabetes affects the lives of so many people around the world, and as yet there’s no cure for the condition.
“Everyone who volunteers to take part in the Walk will be contributing greatly towards vital research into finding a cure for this chronic condition.”
